THE CONSULTATION

Entering the world of babywearing can at first seem rather daunting. There are a number of different carriers available to buy - particularly online. So, how do you choose? And how do you know it will be a good fit for you and for your baby?

This is where I come in. I provide personal one-to-one qualified advice (either in your home, or here at Maverick Baby) for those living in East Anglia, tailored to individual needs and preferences. With a large number of different slings for demonstration, including woven and stretchy wraps, ring slings, mei tais, and buckle carriers (SSCs), we can work together to find the best sling for you, whatever the age of your baby. Or, if you have yet to give birth, you can practice with my babywearing demo doll which is the size and weight of an average newborn baby.

A consultation will typically include the following:

The background to and benefits of babywearing
Anatomical development of the infant and how correct babywearing supports this
Introduction to and advice about different types of baby carriers
Discussion of woven wraps and tying methods

THE COST

A two hour one-family consultation costs £40
A two hour consultation for two families costs £50 (ie £25 each)
Larger groups can be catered for on a demonstration basis - please contact me for details
If you already have a sling and would simply like to learn an alternative method of use, please contact me to discuss your needs

Consultations are also available via Skype for those who would like help with a sling they already own - please get in touch for details

Concessions are available - my vision is to provide education about safe, comfortable babywearing to everyone, regardless of their current financial situation. So, if you are on a low income, please do still get in touch with me; it may be that we can arrange a skills swap.
